In 2015 she decided to pursue her passion and put her natural gifting to use creating Honey Bear Daycare & Preschool. She believes in hands on learning experiences and giving children the freedom to explore, create and take risk.
Ms. Princess has a MA (2023) in Christian Counseling from Restoration Theological Seminary, a BA (2018) in Social Diversity and Education Planning from Eastern Michigan University, and a CDA (2017) Child Development Associate & AADA (2003) in Humanities & Social Sciences from Washtenaw Community College.
Iesha Gray, Preschool Teacher
I am the Preschool teacher at Honeybear Daycare & Preschool. This is my third year at HBDP. I have been working with young children since I was a teenager helping at my aunties in home daycare in Southfield, MI. This is where I developed my interest in learning about young children and their development and decided eventually, I want to open my own home program. I graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 2010 and went straight to Siena Heights University where I earned my BA in early childhood development and BBA in business. I also graduated as an outstanding student in the early childhood development program for the undergraduate program in 2014. After graduating in 2014, I continued my education at Siena Heights University and enrolled in the master’s program for early childhood development which I completed in 2016. Throughout my schooling I have worked in various settings of childcare from schools, daycares, and Montessori.
Le Kitchen, After School Teacher
I’m 22. I typically work on the smaller after school shift but you may see me around otherwise. I have been working with kids all my life: babysitting younger cousins and at my moms group home daycare. I am a recent graduate 2024 of the University of Michigan. My degrees are in English, Sociology, and Social Work. I’m hoping to bring Spanish learning and child advocacy to my Honey Bears.
Philosophy
At our school, we strive to create a safe and caring community of young explorers through the HIGHSCOPE philosophy. Our program is child lead, play based learning and life skills. Here children have the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills, problem solving and conflict resolution skills through play that they can carry with them throughout life.
Location
We’re located on East Michigan Avenue and Ridge Road, across from Coleman’s Market. We are a 10 minute walk from Apple Ridge neighborhood, 10 minutes from I275 and located on the AATA bus route.
