Tanisha Myles, Director I have been working in a preschool classroom setting for over 12 years, running my own classroom for HeadStart. While working in early childhood, I have observed that children learn through play. I started out as a volunteer when my son was 3 years old and he is now 19, then I worked my way up to a PSA (Program Support Aid) within the classroom, which was more hands-on. Once I learned enough through the company I worked for, I asked questions about moving on to the next position, which was an Associate teacher. While in this position, I was still gaining knowledge and getting a feel for the classroom as a whole. I still wasn’t sure if this is something I could do on my own yet. I was quickly put to the test and had to manage my classroom in the lead teacher position while my co-worker went on medical leave. I was a little nervous, but knew I had it. I had all I needed to make my year, and the kids in the classroom, and a very successful year. I succeeded with excellent remarks from parents and supervisors. I obtained my CDA for early childhood. Once I received my certification, I was asked to open and be the lead teacher in my class, and lead the children into another successful school year, which I have always done. Working with children has always been a passion for me. I love and enjoy it and would trade it for no other career.
