Ms. Tina Caverly, Owner and Director
Ms. Tina graduated from Ashford University in 2010 with a bachelor’s in business administration. In 2014, she obtained her associate in early childhood education, from Oakland Community College. She has three children, Markita, Jasmine, and Robert; and one grandson, DJ. She has always had a passion for children, and an inspiration to own her own childcare center since Markita was an infant. In 2012, she stepped out on faith and opened her in home program to offer quality childcare services at an affordable cost to families. In 2014, she moved her program to a building in Pontiac. Ms. Tina enjoys teaching and developing relationships with the children and families that she services. She believes that it is the partnership and bond built between the kids, families and the staff that supports a strong learning foundation for the kids. We sincerely take the time to learn our children and family so we can better teach them and create that learning foundation for them. It is those who come in for a service but leave as family; and that is when you know you have made a positive impact to those you service.
Ms. Markita Grant, GSRP Teacher Ms. Markita attended Oakland University for two years. She currently is continuing her education to obtain a bachelor’s in early childhood education from U of M. Jasmine has a five-month-old son and in addition to working full time with us she attends U of M full time to obtain her nursing degree. She has one daughter and has always enjoyed working and being around children. In 2018, she finally fulfilled that dream by earning her CDA teaching certificate and was promoted as the Preschool Teacher. Philosophy
We believe that children learn at their own pace, and in their own way. When provided with a safe, stimulating environment children will learn through creativity, self-initiated expression and exploration, playful learning, and supported activities. All children will be treated as if they were our own, and redirected with constructive guidance and positive reinforcement, when needed. We believe that it is important for a child to learn accountability. We believe that it takes both parties (teacher and home) to be a partner in the child’s development process, for them to gain the most they can from the learning experiences they will encounter and engage in. We believe that children respond best to consistency, safe, clean, nurturing, and friendly environment. Because children have different learning styles, we find it important to use different vehicles to teach and make material accessible for them to learn. It is their environment that should be manipulated to build on their developmental skills by the individual level. We allow that opportunity for them to utilize decision making skills. We believe that children who are encouraged have greater self-esteem and confidence within themselves. It is important that communication remains open between the two parties, and parental involvement is continually encouraged.
