About our program

My main focus is to help parents prepare their child to be a successful student in Kalamazoo Public Schools. I worked for Kalamazoo Public Schools in classrooms of all ages and saw first hand how detrimental it is for a child to not be on grade level when they enter the public school system. I believe that many of the negative behaviors students act out in school is due to their lack of confidence in the classroom. This is why I believe it is so important to begin reading, writing, and classroom etiquette before kindergarten. Through consistency and positive reinforcement my kids will learn these skills. My curriculum also includes music, art, and creative expression with an abundance of movement and outside play. I also have a beautiful organic garden in my large fully fenced back yard which will give kids the opportunity to learn order of operations, fine motor skills, and how to work collaboratively with each other. Growing a garden will also give kids the opportunity to see, taste, and share the fruits of their effort. Screens will be used at a minimum and I do not allow students to bring iPads or phones with them when they are in my care.
