Philosophy
When we allow children to engage with their environment, magic happens. Our experienced and innovating teachers do this by creating a space driven by the interests and ideas of the children who inhabit it.
About our program
At Little Hatchlings Learning Place, we’re proud to offer a unique preschool experience that focuses on outdoor free play, social-emotional learning, and individualized learning experiences. Little Hatchlings Learning Place is a Montessori-Inspired preschool that weaves in some activities common in Waldorf schools, such as songs, storytelling, artistic experiences, and open-ended imaginative play.
At Little Hatchlings Learning Place, we have two programs: Our Wild Hatchlings School for ages 3-6 and our Littlest Hatchlings for ages 12 - 36 months.
Our Wild Hatchlings School is a preschool program where children will spend ample time outdoors learning and getting messy! Learning will be primarily child-led, but we also introduce the children to reading and math concepts through a variety of play-based activities. Children will help prepare their own snacks and develop life skills. They will have daily experiences with creative exploration. Teachers will guide the children in problem-solving when disputes and disagreements arise so that the children gain experience in feeling and expressing emotions and in playing with others respectfully.
The program is available as a full day or a partial day program.
Full Day: Monday - Friday 7:30 - 4:30
Partial Day: Monday - Thursday 8:00 - 11:30
In our Littlest Hatchlings program, the day will be full of stories, songs, fresh air, free play, and unconditional love.
Children will gain independence and confidence as they practice new life skills, such as putting on and taking off their outdoor clothing, cleaning up after themselves and helping to prepare snacks and meals.
Children will play and explore outside rain or shine. They will have an emphasis on natural, open-ended toys and loose parts to promote imagination and creative play.
They will learn how to communicate with their peers to talk about their feelings and to ask friends if they can take a turn. We will help each other and fill our days with kindness, creativity, and new experiences.
