Our Teachers
Our Lead Teachers have over twenty years of experience with leading children at other daycares and childcare facilities. They are passionate and ready to work in a new environment. Our Program Director, Tamara Lots, is a 25+ year veteran teacher with a passion for child development in learning and social skills. Tamara graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Tamara started working in the church nursery back in 1990. She also worked with the preschool class at Eastern Michigan University catering to 2-year-olds. Tamara is excited about coming back to her roots of nursery and preschool childcare.
Philosophy
The Beacon Light Childcare Center is focused on learning and developing each child on an individual level while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment. We will take the time to assess each student individually to discover their strengths and weaknesses. Beacon Light will create little lights by helping them to create confidence both in and out of the classroom. This confidence will allow little boys and girls to walk in full love and light as they grow into shining stars.
Location
We are located at 16548 Hamilton Ave. in Highland Park, MI (on the corner of Geneva). We are connected to the neighboring areas of Palmer Park, University District, and the HP community. Those who are leaving the Green Acres, Palmer Woods and Sherwood Forest Areas and heading downtown can drop their babies off to our location widely located on Hamilton 6 block south of McNichols and about 4 blocks North of Puritan Avenue.
About our program
A beacon light serves a multi-functional purpose primarily focusing on drawing attention to safety in a dark and desolate place. Beacon Lights are also used for inspiration and illumination. Beacon Light Childcare Center is located in the inner city of Highland Park where life can appear bleak. We made the decision to embody this principle and be the light of inspiration and illumination that will guide our youth to safety. Here at Beacon Light, children are able to thrive in a warm, supportive setting that encourages growth through interactive experiences. Our focus on hands-on learning sets us apart, fostering holistic development in young learners. With a strong emphasis on nurturing each child’s unique journey, we are dedicated to providing top-notch early childhood care and education. Beacon Light also sets aside time within our program to encourage expression in the performing arts which allows each child to sing, dance, tap and play as they see fit.
