Our Teachers

Shayna, owner and childcare provider, has 10 years of professional experience in private, corporate, and in-home childcare settings with all ages. She held the position of a private night nanny/full-time nanny for 2 years and has 4 years of professional experience as a nursing assistant in a hospital setting. Some of her most beneficial, worthwhile experience comes from raising ‘wildflowers’ of her own the past 11 years. Shayna is CPR/First Aid certified through the Red Cross and has completed more hours than the licensing requirements for continuing education.

Testimonials

April Genei (Children’s Ministry Director at Hillside Bible Church):

“My name is April Genei and I am the Children’s Ministry Director at Hillside Bible Church in Ortonville, Mi. Shayna has been a major asset to our church’s VBS program for the last 4 years. The last 4 years she was the snacks leader where she was in charge of what snacks we did, making the lists of what was needed and the amount of each thing and the snack helpers. Shayna has done an amazing job with all of it. She is a joy to be around and she is very easy to work with and she takes direction well. Not only is Shayna a hard worker when it comes to organizing and leading she also is really great with children. She is loving and kind and she is naturally able to make a good connection with each child and loves them for who they are.

Philosophy

Wildflowers & Wonder operates as a Christian (non-denominational) childcare. Age appropriate, Bible based content such as and not limited to: simple prayers at meal time, Bible stories with correlating crafts/coloring, praise and worship music, ties to character development, will be presented. We will not be “cramming religion down children’s throats” so to speak and every in depth, content heavy question will be redirected and communicated back to parents. Parents will remain informed as we are partners in care.

Location

Wildflowers & Wonder is located on a quiet, dead end street by major crossroads of Fenton/Hill Rd intersection. We are a short distance to and from 425 and 23 highways. Genesys hospital is a 9 minute drive and Hurley hospital is 12 minutes away.

About our program

Wildflowers & Wonder is a state licensed, Christian in-home Childcare, providing care for 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Named with inspiration from Luke 12:27-28, for how much God loves and takes care of us, and the wonder we will experience as little hearts grow to know Him. My mission is to provide a safe, loving, nurturing environment for wildflowers to learn and grow through play and exploration, especially outside in creation.

At Wildflowers & Wonder in Grand Blanc, children receive personalized, consistent care from one teacher in a loving setting. Our focus on outdoor activities sets us apart, allowing kids to explore and play freely. Our mixed-age approach promotes growth and friendships in a unique way.
