Our Teachers

Hello, welcome to our program! My name is Wanda, the founder of The Children’s Houze Learning Center LLC. I have always cared for children through church volunteering and I have worked in early childhood for the past 2 years. I am a parent of 1 child, aged 17. I also helped raise three bonus children who are now grown with kids of their own. I am passionate about early education and truly love having an impact on the earliest stage of children’s academic lives. I am excited to meet you and provide your children with the highest quality care and education.

Philosophy

The Children’s Houze Learning Center is a faith-based center. Our program focuses on the individuality and uniqueness of each child. The curriculum encourages self-confidence, spontaneity, curiosity, and self-discipline, which assist in the development of the child’s social and emotional growth and well-being. Activities are planned to promote growth and development in all domains: cognitive, physical, social, and emotional. Children learn through real-life interactions with their peers and adults. When a child has a teacher that reads and interacts with them even during playtime, the child has learning experiences that are so much more meaningful. This was best described by Jean Piaget, a theorist who believed cognitive development is how children learn. He believed children construct an understanding of the world around them, and then experience conflicts between what they already know and what they discover in their environment. Routines and expectations are established to create a climate of confidence for the child’s present and future efforts. The child is seen in the context of their family, their community, and their culture to foster their sense of dignity and self-worth.

Our Core Values:

  1. Children are the most important part of our community.
  2. Quality Childcare and developmentally appropriate education are a unit
  3. Professionalism is the way we will always present ourselves with knowledge, skills, and respect.
  4. Diversity is encouraged. Our staff and services respect and reflect the differences in our community. Our Inclusive Environment supports all families to meet the needs of our diverse world.

Location

Our school is located in the Midtown neighborhood of Detroit. We share a space with First Fellowship Baptist Church. We’re just minutes from Downtown Detroit, Wayne State University, Detroit Medical Center, Henry Ford Hospital.

About our program

Our school is family oriented where welcome snacks are offered to families during drop off. We strive for an open door policy with our families for honest & open communication. We also want our families to be included by offering story time with families.

We pride ourselves in giving children the opportunity to learn at their own pace and give them the tools and resources to help navigate this world through play.
