Our Teachers

Gwendolyn Evans, Teacher My journey as an early childcare provider began in 2005. I was asked by parents experiencing difficulty obtaining affordable quality childcare to open my home. Subsequently, I as a life-long learner have attained over 20 years of practical experience to include an AAS from Baker College, continuing on to earn a BA from Rochester University in early childhood education. I love opportunities for interactions as well as the fostered relationships experienced while working with children and their families.

Philosophy

At our early childcare facility, we believe that when children are offered foundational and developmentally appropriate experiences in a safe and nurturing environment, they can succeed. Additionally, we hold the philosophy that each child is a unique individual with the potential to learn. Our approach emphasizes that children best learn through meaningful play, fostering curiosity, discovery, and problem-solving skills. We acknowledge parents as the child’s first teacher and prioritize areas such as creativity, curiosity, exploration, critical thinking, communication, and adaptability.

Location

Lively Stones Community Child Development is located within the Cornerstone Community of Detroit with easy access to public transportation. About our program

Lively Stones Community Child Development influences concept building skills of technology, engineering, art, and math with a concentration on science. We purposefully integrate the use of tools and open-ended materials through free and guided play. Storytelling and narratives are also used to inspire a child to explore, build, reflect, and ask questions.
