Hi, I’m Jamel Randall, a childcare center director with a passion for yoga, meditation, and mindful living. For the last 6 years I have worked as a yoga studio owner and previously dedicated twelve years to coaching football. These experiences have shaped my belief in the power of introducing children to the practices of yoga and mindfulness right from the foundation. I find immense joy in witnessing the innocence and curiosity of children, as they truly embody the essence of being like sponges, eagerly absorbing everything that happens around them. It is incredibly rewarding to see them learn and grow from the experiences we provide at the childcare center, fostering a sense of peace, self-awareness, and emotional well-being.
Philosophy
Our childcare program offers a unique approach to early childhood education by combining meditation and play-based learning. The centerpiece of our program is the Mindful Map, which consists of seven islands, each representing a different theme. One of these islands is Meditation Island, where children learn the importance of focus and stillness through fun activities. Here, they are taught discipline and concentration skills that are essential for their overall development. Tasks on this island include identifying and expressing feelings and emotions, nurturing their emotional intelligence. These tasks are designed to incorporate three key elements: education, practice, and play. By engaging in these activities, children are guided to conquer all seven islands, building a comprehensive skillset that will serve them well in their future endeavors.
About our program
Our childcare program is unique in its approach, as it places a strong emphasis on meditation, yoga, and mindfulness. We firmly believe that a child’s holistic development encompasses not only their academic skills but also their emotional well-being and ability to navigate through life’s challenges. By infusing mindfulness practices throughout their day, we create a nurturing environment that allows children to learn and grow in a mindful manner. Through guided meditation and yoga sessions, children develop a greater sense of self-awareness and learn techniques to manage stress and regulate their emotions. This foundation of mindfulness is then intertwined with their academic pursuits, enabling them to approach learning with focus, concentration, and a growth mindset. The children in our program thrive on the challenges and growth opportunities that arise from this unique combination of academics and mindfulness, fostering their overall development and love for learning.
