Our Teachers
More to come soon! Our teachers will have a blended background in early childhood and environmental education. Each classroom will have a lead and assistant teacher with lower-than-required student/teacher ratios. We are building market-leading compensation and benefits for our educators and staff into our business plan from the very start!

Testimonials
“I’d be happy to pay for this membership - sounds like the best of both worlds, be close to my children but also work and get things done and know that they are being enriched mentally…” Detroit area mother
Philosophy
Founder, Sarah Gallimore, often echos the words of Elliot Haspel, (Director of Climate and Childcare at Capita) in her belief that child care is more than just an economic driver but “essential to family freedom and national prosperity – a driver of societal health and well-being.” Cokarē believes that “care” must come first, only then “education” may follow.
Cokarē classes use an emergent, nature-led practice that enables progressive early learning opportunities (that both educators and parents can participate in) grounded in play with the proximity that parents crave for deep work.
Cokarē simultaneously addresses multiple problems for parents, guardians, and educators as a cohesive SYSTEM: Change in family dynamics and needs, Change in work schedules and settings, Reduce Edu staff burnout, strengthen retention, and Climate Change/Community Resilience
Location
In the works! We are currently working on finding a site on the East side of Detroit that is convenient for families living in neighborhoods such as Jefferson Chalmers, Riverbend, The Villages (Indian Village, East Village, West Village), Morningside, Marina District, East English Village and Grosse Pointe Park.
About our program
(Opening in 2025!) Waitlist is open! Please use “Message Director” feature and share your email and/or phone number.
Cokaré is coworking that cares for the whole family, including mother nature! We provide flexible, nature-based childcare with parent-focused coworking to help our members excel at their life’s work (no matter what “work” looks like!) alongside their little ones (proximity with privacy) on a restorative campus setting in Detroit because we believe that every parent is a working parent who deserves supportive care infrastructure. We center our days around an ecological schoolyard and support our parents as the “first teacher”. Whether you’re preparing for a new addition, transitioning back to FT work from maternity leave or looking for a longer term solution that keeps you closer to your kids, Cokarē can help you build the future you want for your growing family.
Website coming soon. Our membership model works a little different than most - with a monthly fee and customized care/work offerings so please reach out with any questions you have.
