Our Teachers
Ms. Sarah is a dedicated and experienced childcare provider who has been nurturing children for over 30 years, spending the last 20 operating her own home-based childcare program where she ensures that each child receives individual attention and care. Prior to that she held roles as a teacher at a childcare center and a nanny. Her combined experiences have helped her hone her skills in providing a safe and loving environment for children. Ms. Sarah’s commitment to the well-being of children is evident in her continuous pursuit of professional development, including her CPR and First Aid certification and completion of her CDA with extensive training in child development. Her passion for her work shines through when she talks about the children she has cared for, both in the past and present, as she truly loves what she does.
Philosophy
At our program, our team believes in celebrating and highlighting the uniqueness of each child. We create learning environments where children can thrive and develop their individual interests and skills. Our program incorporates circle time, group time, and open play to cater to different learning styles and foster social interactions. We have a theme-based learning philosophy that builds a strong foundation in literacy, science, and math. Some examples of themes we explore are camping, holidays, bugs and insects, space, and back to school. By incorporating these themes, we ensure that children are learning in fun and engaging ways. Additionally, to honor the Native American population we serve, we incorporate learning about their traditions, values, and culture into our curriculum. This helps children develop a sense of appreciation and respect for diverse cultures from an early age.
Location
We are located in a residential neighborhood in the heart of the beautiful Les Cheneaux Islands! We have a fenced in yard, with large sand area and grass for the children to run and play, along with a comfortable deck for relaxing or snacking!
About our program
Little Buoys is non-discriminatory with regards to race, color, religion, or creed. We offer children an environment where they can develop healthy attitudes, an eagerness to learn, a trust in those who care for them, and awareness that they are special and loved. Individual needs are met in a stimulating, nurturing environment, and talents are developed through shared experiences.
The mission of our home daycare is to provide quality, licensed childcare for infants through twelve-year-olds as a service to the community. We provide a carefully planned, stimulating program to encourage cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development of young children in a safe, clean, and nurturing environment.
