Our Teachers

Isabel Tipton, Daycare provider

I grew up helping my grandmother in her daycare from the age of 9 til about 14. At that time my mother opened her own daycare so I helped her until I moved out at 19.I had my own 2 children and was a stay at home mother for about 5 years.Once my children were old enough to go to school I started back to work. I worked as a store manager for about 3 years, then a utility dispatcher which was remote but once covid hit work slowed and I chose to go back to school for Medical Assisting. I absolutely loved being a medical assistant but wasn’t able to spend time with my children like I use too, my children took notice and child care was hard to find or was crazy expensive. For those reasons I decided that maybe it was time for another change. I could open my own daycare, spend time with my own children and still provide for my family while helping others who were in my same situation.

Philosophy

In my home daycare your kids are my kids from day one. I strive to make sure every one is welcome, safe and taken care of while here. My In home daycare is play based learning because I want babies and kids to be exactly that, once they get a little older I print work book and activity sheets that can be completed but I do not require the kids to do them as I know each child is different. We play with toys plus games indoors and out doors, we watch fun and educational videos or tv shows plus I read books to them. The kids interact and build their own little relationships which helps them learn from each other as well due to the different ages.

Location

My daycare is located in a a quiet subdivision of Benton Township just off of Territorial rd. I am 15 minutes from Watervliet, Coloma and St.Joseph or 10 minutes from Millburg and down town Benton harbor. I do not provide transportation but there are a few school bus stops near me.(Bainbridge town hall, Countryside-Millburg, Eagles store on Territorial,Wells Ave)

About our program

My program is unique in the sense that everyone who comes in to my home is their own unique person which causes day to day activities to be specialized. At this time I do not have family events or celebrations but am working on that as it something that I would love to do.
