Our Teachers

Hello:) I’m a California native. I hold a master degree in early childhood education as well as an AMI Montessori teacher certification. I had been a Montessori preschool teacher for 10 years, and for the past few years I have been an infant/toddler caregiver for some wonderful Ann Arbor families. I am beyond thrilled and excited to start my own Montessori program in my home on the West side of Ann Arbor!
The first years of life lay a critical foundation for a child’s future emotional, cognitive, physical, and social well-being. Who and how you choose to care for your children during this critical time is vitally important. I love my work and I take it very seriously. And I am especially passionate about caring for infants and toddlers, and I love working with new parents! I bring with me a mix of high quality Montessori teaching experience, a keen understanding of early-childhood development and a love and respect for young children. My caregiving style is informed by my training, education and many years of experience both in an early childhood classroom and in raising my own 2 children (who I think turned out pretty great!). I look forward to getting to know your child and their family:)

Philosophy

Our philosophy at the early childcare facility is centered on gentle guidance for the children’s holistic development. With a 4:1 ratio, we prioritize one-on-one interaction to nurture each child’s unique spirit while fostering independence in skills like communication, self-care, and social interactions. Guided by Maria Montessori’s belief in respecting children as human beings, our focus is on facilitating cognitive and physical growth through hands-on experiences and promoting independence through daily living tasks. Through specially designed materials and a variety of sensory experiences, we aim to help children learn, grow, and thrive in a nurturing environment.

Location

Oakblue Montessori is located in the Eberwhite neighborhood of Ann Arbor. Our house is at the end of a cul-de-sac, which is ideal for pick-up and drop-off. Since we are so close to the center of Ann Arbor, I hope we will be easily accessible to families all over this great city.

About our program

Welcome to Oakblue Montessori! There are so many exciting and new things happening in your child’s life. I am truly honored and excited about the opportunity to be a part of this special time in their development. I am so looking forward to getting to know your child and your family. I appreciate and value the unique qualities of each individual child; therefore, I am carefully and lovingly preparing our room and myself to honor your child and who they are becoming. I genuinely care for the children and families I serve and I am striving to create a community that will provide your child with experiences to support their individual learning, development of independence, and the formation of their self-identity. I look forward to having fun and learning together while building a strong relationship with each of you in the infant/toddler community at Oakblue!
