Our Teachers

Hello! I am Maria Chacon, the founder of Maria’s Family Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I have loved working with children since I was young. I have 29 years of experience working with young children.

Philosophy

Marias Family Wonderschool is a warm, nurturing, home-like atmosphere where parents are always a welcome as part of our childcare family. Our teaching philosophy is to provide an excellent childcare facility in our community where your child can grow from infancy through the toddler phase and into the preschool years. We encourage hands-on and in the moment care, making everything fun – because that’s how kids like to learn! We accentuate confidence building activities. We also strive to foster sharing and communication, as we believe in the importance of expressing our feelings and treating each other with respect.

Location

Maria’s Family Wonderschool is located in a bright, inviting single family home in the Dudley Square neighborhood.

Children will have some outdoor time everyday in my private yard or outdoor space. Children need space to run, jump, and move!

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), and reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite).

Learning Center

At Maria’s Family Wonderschool, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.

About our program

My goal is to provide all of the children in my care a clean, safe, and loving environment. A home where they can play and learn to discover their abilities, skills, relying on appropriate material for their learning and development according to their capabilities.

I believe in the value of both a structured and flexible schedule. Structured activities will include the use of curriculum, regular reading times, arts and crafts, musical activities outdoor play and free play. The most important priority is to have fun. Each child has their own personality and should be treated as an individual. Children feel comfortable growing and learning at their own pace. This environment will build self-esteem. Positive attitude and pro-social behavior.
