Sol M.Jurado, Founder & Lead Guide

With over 18 years of experience in early childhood education and a deep passion for the Montessori method, Sol brings both expertise and heart to Little Explorers Montessori. Her journey in education began with a profound belief that every child deserves to experience the joy of learning in an environment that respects their natural development.

Sol holds her Associate’s degree in Child Care from Urban College of Boston and has dedicated her career to creating authentic learning environments where children thrive. Her extensive professional development includes specialized training in child-directed play and learning, Massachusetts early learning guidelines, and quality rating improvement systems. She is certified in CPR/AED and pediatric first aid, and has completed comprehensive training in nutrition, food safety, and creating healthy learning environments.

Her bilingual expertise allows her to serve diverse families, having completed numerous professional development courses in both English and Spanish. Sol’s approach combines evidence-based early childhood practices with a warm, nurturing style that helps each child feel valued and supported. Her commitment to continuous learning is evident through her participation in conferences, quality improvement systems training, and ongoing professional development.

Philosophy

Our curriculum is built upon Dr. Maria Montessori’s fundamental principle that children are naturally eager to learn and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared environment. We honor each child’s unique developmental timeline and intrinsic motivation, creating a community where children develop independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

In our mixed-age classrooms, children learn from and with each other, developing leadership skills, empathy, and respect for others. Our specially trained Montessori guides observe each child carefully, presenting lessons when the child shows readiness and interest, allowing for deep concentration and mastery.

At Little Explorers House Montessori, we follow Dr. Maria Montessori’s time-tested approach that recognizes children as natural learners who thrive when given freedom within a carefully prepared environment. Our approach emphasizes:

Child-Led Learning: Children choose their own activities based on their interests and developmental readiness, fostering intrinsic motivation and deep engagement.

Mixed-Age Community: Our 1-6 age grouping creates natural mentorship opportunities where older children develop leadership skills while younger children learn from capable peers.

Uninterrupted Work Periods: Extended three-hour work cycles allow children to engage deeply with materials, develop concentration, and experience the satisfaction of completing chosen work.

Hands-On Learning: Beautiful, carefully designed materials make abstract concepts concrete and accessible to young minds.

Natural Materials and Hands-On Learning:: Our beautiful wooden and organic materials—completely plastic-free—make abstract concepts concrete and accessible to young minds while connecting children to nature

Respect for Natural Development: We meet each child where they are, honoring their unique pace and learning style.

About our program

Welcome to Little Explorers House Montessori, where every child’s natural desire to learn is honored, nurtured, and celebrated in a completely natural and bilingual environment. Founded on Dr. Maria Montessori’s revolutionary understanding that children are inherently capable and eager to explore their world, our program creates a thoughtfully prepared environment where young learners ages 1-6 develop independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

In our beautiful mixed-age community, surrounded exclusively by natural wooden and organic materials, children discover the joy of meaningful work, the satisfaction of mastery, and the deep connections that come from learning alongside peers of different ages—all while developing fluency in both English and Spanish. Here, your child will not just prepare for academic success, but will develop the critical thinking, creativity, and compassion that will serve them throughout their lives.

Under Sol’s leadership, Little Explorers House Montessori stands apart as the only completely plastic-free school in the area. Every educational material, toy, and piece of furniture is crafted from natural wood and organic materials, creating richer sensory experiences while connecting children directly with nature. This intentional environmental choice supports children’s health and well-being while teaching environmental respect from the earliest ages.

Sol’s commitment to holistic child development extends to nutrition, with the school serving exclusively certified organic food sourced from local Massachusetts farms. This farm-to-table approach provides superior nutrition while educating children about food sources, seasonal cycles, and sustainable agriculture practices.

Drawing from her extensive bilingual training and cultural background, Sol has created an authentic English-Spanish immersion program that naturally integrates both languages throughout the day. This approach not only develops complete literacy in both languages but celebrates diverse cultures while preparing children as global citizens.
