Our Teachers

Hello! I am Dixil Parry, the founder of First Lessons Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I have loved working with children since I was young and saw a great need for an attentive, high quality educational program in the Ashmont neighborhood. I have 5 grown children of my own and have 29 years of experience working with young children. We have an incredible team of educators at First Lessons Wonderschool. Diandra Jones joined us in 2013 and Vonretta Owens 2008! We work together seamlessly to ensure your childs, safety, comfort and happiness.

Philosophy

At First Lessons Wonderschool, we believe that when we focus on children now, it can impact their future. These first years of their lives are essential to build a foundation for their future self.  Our daily circle time incorporates many different topics, including a daily story and opportunity for conversation and practice across a number of topics, including letters, numbers, and weather and even social topics like manners and personal space. Coming together as a class, we develop strong listening and speaking skills on a daily basis.

Location

First Lessons Wonderschool is located in an inviting, spacious townhouse in the Ashmont neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Friday is our favorite day here at First Lessons Wonderschool because on Fridays we cook!

Children will have some outdoor time everyday at a local park or playground. Connecting with nature lets children gain deeper knowledge of themselves and the world.

At First Lessons Wonderschool, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.

About our program

We are a team at First Lessons Wonderschool, and there are many ways that we build partnership with our parents. We are at our best when we work as a team with parents and family members in order to support development. We believe that these early learning years are vital to a childs’ future success so we accept the challenge to teach them as many educational and practical life skills as possible in our short time with your children.

Come see what makes First Lessons Wonderschool unique. Please schedule a tour or attend an Open House event.

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
