Our Teachers

Julie Gayes, Director

Julie’s passions include teaching young children, partnering with their parents, training teachers, and connecting with others. Her husband, David, and she have been residents of Westfield for almost 15 years. They’ve raised their two girls, Emerson and Eva, here. Emerson is a sophomore at Purdue University studying Developmental and Family Sciences, and Eva is a junior at Westfield High School. Along with caring for her family, she is a teacher, education trainer/coach, children’s ministry volunteer, and a very proud child advocate. She believes wholeheartedly that it is a privilege to teach and guide children.

She graduated from Ball State University in 2000 with degrees in Early Childhood Education and primary Education. Following her graduation, she spent 4 years teaching kindergarten and first grade until she had her first daughter. She then began working in early childhood as both a teacher and eventually an administrator. Early in her career, she learned that how one speaks to children becomes their inner speech, and ALL children are lovable and capable. She was fortunate to work at an early childhood center that focused on fostering social and emotional intelligence and developmentally appropriate academic instruction. This experience provided a foundation for all her future professional accomplishments. She recently discovered The Learning Experience and was very impressed by their commitment to nurturing the whole child. Her goal as the director at TLE in Westfield is to provide the highest level of care and education while creating an environment that feels like a second home to their little friends!

Philosophy

The Learning Experience (TLE) philosophy centers on fostering holistic child development through a balanced approach. TLE emphasizes play-based learning as a cornerstone, recognizing that children thrive when engaged and having fun. Hands-on learning is crucial to their philosophy, allowing children to actively explore and comprehend concepts. Character development is paramount, instilling values like respect, empathy, and kindness from an early age. TLE aims to build children’s confidence and independence, empowering them with self-esteem and autonomy. Their well-rounded curriculum covers various subjects and activities, including STEM, arts, and physical fitness. TLE also values parental involvement, fostering collaboration between parents and educators to support children’s growth and prepare them for a successful future.

About our program

From Infant through preschool, we make early education and daycare joyful, engaging and fun so children are happy to learn, play and grow.

Our L.E.A.P.® (Learning Experience Academic Program) Curriculum uses fun, hands-on activities throughout early education to help children develop intellectually, socially and cognitively.

Children love learning from characters—and studies show that it’s highly effective especially in preschool and early education. TLE® has a cast of unique, beloved characters, each one teaching children a new value or activity.
