Our Teachers
I’ve been working in childcare for around 20 years now, and it all started when I began working in my family’s childcare center. Seeing the children’s smiling faces and watching them grow and learn from new experiences sparked a passion within me for this profession. After gaining experience in my family’s center, I decided to take the leap and open my own childcare center. It was a big decision, but one that I am grateful for every day. Owning my own center has allowed me to create an environment that is tailored to my beliefs and values, and that is focused on providing high-quality care and education to children. What I enjoy most about working in childcare is seeing my students grow and develop over time. It’s amazing to watch them discover new things, make connections, and learn new skills. It’s truly a joy to be a part of their lives and to see the impact that I can make in their growth and development. Over the years, I’ve learned so much from my experiences in childcare. I’ve learned the importance of patience, flexibility, and empathy when working with young children. I’ve learned to appreciate the unique qualities and strengths of each child, and to create an environment that supports their individual needs and learning styles. Working in childcare has been a fulfilling and rewarding career for me. I feel lucky to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and their families every day.
Philosophy
As a play-based childcare provider, my philosophy revolves around creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can explore, learn, and develop at their own pace through play. I believe that play is the foundation for all learning and that children learn best when they are engaged and having fun. In my childcare program, I strive to create a play-based curriculum that is child-led, developmentally appropriate, and inclusive of all children’s needs and abilities. I encourage children to be active participants in their own learning, and I provide opportunities for them to make choices and explore their interests. I believe that each child is unique and has their own strengths and challenges. Therefore, I work to create individualized plans that meet the specific needs of each child in my care. I encourage children to express themselves and help them to develop their social and emotional skills, as well as their cognitive and physical abilities. I also believe in building strong partnerships with families and caregivers. I regularly communicate with parents to keep them informed of their child’s progress, and I seek their input and feedback to ensure that their child’s needs are being met.
Location
Hi there, I’m Nicia, the owner of Nicia’s Happy Hearts Child Care. Our child care is located in my family home, in the lovely Farly neighborhood. We welcome families who are looking for a safe, nurturing, and home-like environment for their children. One of the things that sets our child care apart is our spacious backyard. We know that children need plenty of fresh air and outdoor playtime, so we’ve made sure to create a fun and safe space where our little ones can run around, play games, and explore the great outdoors. In addition to our backyard, we also have a beautiful garden where our students can learn about nature. We believe that hands-on learning experiences are essential for children’s growth and development, and what better way to learn about the world around us than by getting our hands dirty in the garden? We love teaching our little ones about the life cycle of plants, the importance of taking care of the environment, and the joy of growing and harvesting our own fruits and vegetables. At Nicia’s Happy Hearts Child Care, we strive to create a warm and welcoming environment where every child feels loved, valued, and supported. We know that choosing a child care provider is a big decision, and we’re honored to be a part of your family’s journey. Come visit us and see for yourself why we’re one of the best child care providers in the Farly neighborhood!
About our program
We are a play-based program that focuses on creating a nurturing and engaging environment for children to learn and grow in. One of the unique aspects of our program is that we incorporate mindfulness activities such as meditation and yoga into our daily routines. We believe that teaching children mindfulness skills at a young age can help them develop important emotional regulation and self-awareness skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. As we grow and expand our program, we are excited to begin planning events for both new and current families to come together and learn more about our program. We believe that building a strong sense of community is essential for both children and parents, and we are committed to creating opportunities for families to connect and support one another. We are currently in the early stages of planning these events, but we are excited about the possibilities. We envision family picnics, playdates, and informational sessions where parents can learn more about our program and ask any questions they may have.
