Hi, my name is Carolyn Woodson and I have always loved spending time with children. It was when I started taking care of my grandchildren at my house that I realized just how much I enjoyed watching them grow and learn. As time went by, I began to consider opening my own family childcare business. I saw this as an opportunity to not only do what I loved but also to help other families in the area who were in need of quality childcare. One of the things that I have enjoyed the most about working with kids is seeing them learn new things. There is nothing more fulfilling than watching a child develop a new skill or achieve a milestone that they have been working towards. Additionally, the energy and enthusiasm that children bring to each day is infectious. Their youthfulness and unbridled curiosity keep me on my toes and constantly engaged. Over the years, I have come to realize that working with children is not just a job, but a true passion of mine. It brings me so much joy to know that I am helping to shape the lives of these young individuals and watching them grow into successful, well-rounded adults. In opening my own childcare business, I have been able to combine my passion with my professional goals, and I couldn’t be happier with the work that I do every day.
Philosophy
As a childcare provider, my philosophy is centered around play-based learning. I believe that children learn best through hands-on experiences and exploration, and that play provides the perfect opportunity for them to do so. In my program, I create an environment that is safe, supportive, and conducive to learning through play. I provide a variety of materials and activities that allow children to engage in imaginative and creative play, while also developing important skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and social-emotional development. I also believe in the importance of individualized learning, and strive to tailor my approach to each child’s unique interests, strengths, and developmental needs. I observe each child’s play and use those observations to inform my curriculum, adapting my strategies and materials to best support their growth and development.

As the owner of a Funtastic Playhouse in Hammond, Indiana, I’m proud to say that we’ve been providing high-quality care for young children for 14 years now. Our play-based program is designed to help children learn and grow in a fun and engaging way. We provide a safe and stimulating environment for children to explore, play, and learn.
