Whitney Wilder, Owner and Operator

My name is Whitney Wilder, and I am proud to be owner & founder of Purpose Learning Academy!! I am from Hazlehurst, GA and raised primarily in Atlanta, Georgia. I received my certification in Human development & family studies from Benedict College and Early Childcare Education & Administration from Ashford University, This will be my fifteenth year in the Early Childcare & Education field. I have a true passion for working with our youngest learners! Helping each child progress in all areas of their development. Cognitive, social, communication, language & literacy and motor skills is a challenge that I am honored to accept daily. I strive to create a community of learners that nurtures this growth in a positive, fun environment.

Personally, I have been married to my Husband Mr. Zack for 6 glorious years and we have one fantastic son who is 3 years old. We love to watch our son perform & develop daily. I also enjoy reading, cooking, Gospel music, relaxing at the beach, and spending time with friends and family.

I look forward to working together with you as partners in your child’s growth and development!!

Chiyyia Waters, Assistant Teacher

Education: Currently Attending Kennesaw State University Child Psychology

Hello, I am Chiyyia Waters, a resident of Atlanta and a current student of Kennesaw State University studying Child Psychology. I began working with children at the young age of 12 years old and since then I have several experiences working with children such as multiple kindergarten classrooms, being a summer camp counselor for my church’s youth ministry and a family contracted care provider. I have always taken an interest in helping people in many ways, yet I really enjoy helping and working with children. While maintaining Georgia’s childcare & education training hours and taking psychology classes I’ve learned that the first five years of a child’s life is critical to their overall development (cognitively physically, mentally, socially and emotionally).I feel it will be very rewarding to know that I have helped a child to reach their full potential. Not only are they growing but their creativity and energy is a personal joy and reward itself.

My experience and interactions with the teachers have been great! My toddler is learning at a pace more advanced than expected. The care, time, and thought that is put into lessons, environment, learning activities, play time and even meals shows the providers/teachers have a passion for what they do.

Mrs. Wilder and her team are great. There's never a time when I pick up my daughter that she isn't all smiles. When I hear my daughter try to articulate more and even correct me on what color something is, it tells me that she is picking up so many skills and information is sticking with her. Our daughter is on a course leading her to a healthy love of education and with the nurturing environment provided by PLA!

Whitney is a great teacher and her skills show through my son. He is well above every category that the state requires and more. I love how well we communicate together to get my son in the right direction, whenever he is having a challenging moment.

* My daughter is making strides academically and socially, Mrs. Whitney is so loving and seems to really enjoy what she’s doing. The children are like family to each other and you really get to know owners, children and parents personally. That’s so appreciated in this disconnected era we live in. I’d highly recommend PLA!!!!!
