Our Teachers

Hello! I am Astrid Hernandez, the founder of Kids N’ Me Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom and grow. I have over 15 years of experience working with young children.

I am always learning and growing in my own professional development as a child care provider. From my first few years starting out with my own in-home child care program until now, I aim to regularly attend classes, meetings and workshops about early childhood education. I am passionate about my community and enjoy sharing my knowledge with others.

Philosophy

At Kids N’ Me Wonderschool, I treat all kids in my program like my own. As a mother of a young daughter, I understand more than ever the care that children need as well as the concerns and worries that parents have every day. I started to work with children at the age of 14 years old at church as a Sunday school teacher for toddlers. After that, I realized that I could make my career out of caring for children since I truly enjoy being around little ones.

I started my program in 2004, and have developed a curriculum through which children learn everything from letters, numbers, shapes and colors to geography, science, art and math. I am fluent in both English and Spanish, and aim to teach children some sign language as well.

Kids are encouraged to show love and respect for each other as well as good manners. At Kids N’ Me Wonderschool, we care for each other like members of the same family. I have watched several children learn and grow in my program for 7+ years and feel blessed to be a part of their early childhood education.

Location

Kids N’ Me Wonderschool is located in a spacious, welcoming single family home in the West Covina neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include an indoor and outdoor reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), nature area (for discovering nature and science concepts), and art area (for expressing emotions and ideas).

Children will have some outdoor time every day in my large private yard filled with fun, safe activities. I believe children need space to run, jump, and move!

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
