Our Teachers

Hi everyone! I am Patrice Whitfied, the founder of Destined To Be. I was inspired to start my own program because I want to provide a solution for the need of quality care in Solano county. My dream was to design an environment where children not only feel safe and loved, but one that also promotes independence, includes challenges and aids them to want to learn more! That is why I have dedicated my life to early childhood education. I’ve worked as a preschool teacher for four years and throughout that time I’ve taken class after class, which has only made my passion for the generations to come more evident! This field of work has given me the opportunity to learn patience and understanding. I take the development of children very seriously and know that the lessons/activities that I plan, the vocabulary that I use and the guidance that I provide play a role in forming children’s overall being, and perspective on the world. I believe consistent growth can be achieved through intentional teachings and by nurturing children’s individual strengths and struggles. At Destined To Be the children will become accustomed to a daily schedule, taught letters, numbers, shapes, and colors, develop a healthy understanding of friendship (kindness and respect), and learn the importance of self love (self-esteem, self-compassion, self-competence ect). We are a mixed age classroom, with activities designed for all ages. This allows older children to motivate the younger ones, and gives the younger children intrinsic motivation to learn and grow up just like the older ones. Every child is different and they all deserve a teacher who takes the time to listen and genuinely help them. The development of the brain is a step by step process, no milestone less important than the rest. I am here to figure out where your child is and how we can conquer each phase.

In other words, I love my job and I love your children! I am excited every day to continue impacting the lives of our future!
