Our Teachers

Hello! I am Saul Hurtado, and I run Fuentes Family Wonderschool alongside my mother, Ana Maria, who founded the program in 2004. I have always been inspired by my mother’s work, and knew I wanted to work alongside her to provide high quality care to families in our community. We are always striving to learn more and be better; I currently have my Child Development Teacher’s Permit, and am working towards my AA in Child Development.

Testimonials

We have been taking our daughter here for almost 2 years now. When we first went, we were very nervous about leaving our first/only child anywhere, especially with people we didnt know. However, when we first stopped in, they were so kind and welcoming, and had all the right answers to any questions we asked. They offered us flexibility, explained their background and ideas about children, and were very open.

Over the last 2 years, they have helped us with advice or ideas when we didnt know what to do. They have let us bring her on days with very short notice. Our daughter is getting to learn spanish alongside english, which will be great for her! There is a level of honesty and professionalism that you do not find very many places.

Better than all of that, our daughter is excited to “go see her friends”. I would say that hers is the best opinion of all. If you are in need of child care, I would strongly recommend giving Fuentes Child Care a chance!

First I want to say thank you to these wonderful people in this daycare. Since day 1 that my daughter has been enroll at 3 months and now she’s about to be 19 months, there hasn’t been a day where I had a doubt about them. They give you the run down, and explain and show you around and make you feel at home just the minute you step in. They are very sweet and thoughtful by that I mean for my daughters first birthday, they thru her a mini party. They give me helping tips knowing I’m a first time mom, it’s always good! I’m so grateful and my daughter now runs with joy just to see them. Really do recommend.

We started bringing my son here at 12 weeks, when I went back to work, and my husband and I were a little nervous with him being so young and our first child. But the Fuentes family has been wonderful. They are great about flagging up any issues that come up and have lots of helpful advice. They are also unfailingly patient with our little guy, who has already proven to be an opinionated handful. I love seeing him give them a great big smile when I drop him off in the morning, definitely makes me feel like we picked the right place.

I was hesitant to meet with Fuentes Childcare since I couldn’t find any reviews, but I had met with several places that had 5 star reviews that really disappointed me so I gave it a shot. I’m a first time single mother of an infant and needed reliable daycare to go back to work and I was so terrified of leaving her with strangers and not knowing if I had picked the right place. I came in for a tour and immediately felt at home- he went over everything from their educational backgrounds, funded programs they’re in that constantly check in on their daycare, their family background, he even mentioned that if I ever had any questions and he couldn’t confidently answer them that he calls his child care professor to get his input. They’re open on Saturdays, don’t take any few week long vacations that they expect you to pay for and their hours are really flexible with your work schedule (mine is constantly all over the place). I chose them because out of all the daycares I toured, he was the only one that held a conversation with me about their educational background and their background with children. This was the only place I could feel and trust that they genuinly enjoy working with children. So I put my then 2 1/2 month old daughter in and flash forward to now, 5 months old, I couldn’t be happier. They have helped her transition to rice cereal/baby food, they never overfeed her when she’s crying or just stick a bottle in her mouth during daycare naptime. They communicate with me EVERY day about what kind of day she had or anything they were concerned about, and give me advice on what they think she’s going through and certain medicine/oils they suggest to help. I drop in unannounced all the time and whenever I do she’s either playing on a mat really happy or she’s in someone’s arms laughing at them. I can’t stress enough how happy and grateful I am to have found this daycare, I’ve never picked her up crying or sick or injured and I’m never at work wondering if she’s okay. To me it feels like she’s at another home, not just a daycare and I wish that someone would have reviewed them before me so I could have chosen them before wasting my time with the other daycares. And as if all that wasn’t enough, they give you information and help applying for a program called CCRC that helps you cover the cost of their daycare, something I had no idea about. And one of the greatest things in my opinion is that they’re bilingual, so my daughter gets to grow up being around people speaking Spanish and English. As long as we live in the valley, my daughter will stay in their care. If any parents reading this need more info, please contact me I’d be happy to tell you further how wonderful this place is.

Philosophy

At Fuentes Family Wonderschool, it is our goal to provide an environment that makes children feel welcomed and at home. As a child care establishment, our job is to teach children from an early age so that they are fully prepared for when they attend school. Education is very important for parents who want their child to succeed and is very essential for a bright future.

Location

Fuentes Family Wonderschool is located in a spacious, inviting single family home in the Sun Valley neighborhood, just outside of Burbank.

We have transformed out entire home into a space for children to explore and learn. We have a large infant space, an arts and crafts room, and a main room with dramatic play, manipulatives and more!

We’re especially proud of our outdoor spaces - one in back, and one in front! In the back, children play with blocks and tricycles, and in the front we run around in the grass under the shade of the giant tree and explore on climbing structures and play houses. We take great pride in our home and the space we’ve created for our children!
