Our Teachers

Hello! I am Laura Juarez, the founder of Juarez Family Child Care Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 26 years of experience working with young children. My daughter Alex and I have been running our child care program together for several years. We both love working with children of all ages and work hard to provide a safe, loving and nurturing environment. Alex enjoys arts & crafts and she even helped build some of the wooden materials in our dramatic play area! From our programming to the way we’ve thoughtfully designed our space, we hope to offer a unique and enriching educational experience for all children We focus on a daily curriculum to help each child foster self-directed learning and independence, yet allowing them opportunities to explore and express their individuality.

I’ve seen the need of providing high quality care in my community. I love working with children of all ages and work hard to provide a safe, loving and nurturing environment.

My goal is to provide more than just care; I want to offer an environment where each child feels seen, supported and encouraged to grow.

Philosophy

At Juarez Family Child Care, our goal is for every child to learn, grow and express individuality in a safe and nurturing environment. We embrace inclusivity and diversity where all children feel valued and respected.

We center our activities around a “monthly theme” based in The Creative Curriculum. For Example June we learn about our community helpers (doctors, firefighters, teachers etc.) February we discuss Feelings (love and friendship) and in November we learn about The Foods We Eat so that children gain a better understanding of nutrition and the importance of eating their fruits and vegetables.

We structure our days with a daily rhythm and planned activities while also giving children the chance to explore their own interests through free play.

Among the many benefits of in-home child care are the smaller ratios and warm, caring environment. We strongly believe in having open communication with families to best serve each child’s individual needs.

Location

Juarez Family Child Care is located in the beautiful Hollydale community filled with single family homes. Its a peaceful, safe and quiet location just a small walk from the newly renovated Circle park located on Garfield Ave. Relatively close to the 710 freeway and located within the Downey Unified School District.

About our program

At Juarez Family Child Care, we encourage children to thrive in a supportive atmosphere that promotes growth and confidence. Our unique approach combines play-based learning with fostering independence, allowing students to develop socially and emotionally. With a focus on age-integrated groups, we provide a well-rounded educational experience for each child. We focus on child-centered learning to help children learn in hands-on activities while allowing children to focus on their interests and creative expressions.

We encourage and promote the importance of books in order to foster, improve and stimulate imagination. We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Yet most importantly we value children’s space and boundaries providing a safe and supportive environment.
