Our Teachers
Hello! I am Tara Flatt, the founder and director of Little Mountain Wonderschool. My little ones, who are now 3 years and 5 years old, inspired me to start my program - I had a challenging experience looking for high-quality child care, where my child could have a home away from a home and would not be just a number among many other children. I ran my own Wonderschool (San Mateo Station Wonderschool) in San Mateo for 4 years, and am excited to now work with families in the Shingletown area.
Achievements
Philosophy
At Little Mountain Wonderschool, we believe that children learn best when they are provided individualized care and are in an environment where they are encouraged to explore the world around them. Our students will learn through doing hands-on, age-appropriate activities and playing in our large outdoor space.
Location
Little Mountain Wonderschool is located next to Black Butte Elementary School, and we’re a quick drive from Highway 44. We’re located in Shingletown, between Redding and Anderson, and have early drop-off hours and late pick-up hours to help families who are commuting in the area.
About our program
At Little Mountain Wonderschool, outdoor play is a significant part of our program’s daily rhythm and structure. Through gardening activities, such as planting potatoes, our students learn about the life cycle of the nature around them and can enjoy making discoveries of their own.
