Our Teachers
Hi there! My name is Gillma, and I have had a lot of experience with child care over the years. It all started when I became a mother to my own beautiful daughter, who is now 11 years old. As any parent knows, taking care of a child can be both incredibly rewarding and incredibly challenging. I loved being a mom, but I also realized that there was a huge need for high-quality child care in my community.
That’s when I decided to become a nanny. I worked for several different families over the years, providing full-time care for their children while they worked. It was an amazing experience, and I loved getting to know each child and watching them grow and learn. I also learned a lot about what works (and what doesn’t) when it comes to child care.
After working as a nanny for a few years, I decided to take my experience to the next level by working in a child care center. I worked with children of all ages, from infants to preschoolers, and loved every minute of it. It was a great opportunity to learn even more about child development and education, and I loved being part of a team that was dedicated to providing the best possible care for the children in our care.
Eventually, though, I realized that I wanted to do things my own way. I wanted to create a child care environment that was tailored to the specific needs of the children and families I served. So I decided to take the leap and open my own family in home child care. It was a lot of work, but it was also incredibly rewarding.
Through all of my experiences in child care, I have learned that there is no one “right” way to do things. Every child and family is unique, and it’s important to be flexible and adaptable in order to meet their individual needs. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with so many wonderful children and families over the years, and I look forward to continuing to provide high-quality child care for many years to come.
Philosophy
my philosophy centers around providing a play-based learning environment that embraces and celebrates the Spanish language and culture.
I believe that children learn best through play, and I strive to create a safe and stimulating space where they can explore, discover, and experiment at their own pace. I provide a wide range of open-ended materials and activities that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. I encourage children to ask questions and to follow their interests, using their natural curiosity as a guide for their learning.
As a bilingual program, I believe that learning a second language is not only beneficial, but it also helps children to better understand and appreciate different cultures. I incorporate the Spanish language into everyday activities, songs, stories, and conversations. I also provide materials that reflect the diversity of Spanish-speaking cultures, such as books, music, and art.
I believe in creating a strong sense of community within my program. I strive to build meaningful relationships with the children in my care and their families, and I encourage family involvement in their child’s learning. I believe that parents are the primary educators of their children, and I work in partnership with them to support their child’s growth and development.
About our program
Rayito de Sol is a wonderful childcare program located in the Bay View neighborhood that offers a unique approach to early childhood education. The program focuses on providing a play-based learning environment where children can explore, learn and grow in a fun and supportive atmosphere.
One of the standout features of Rayito de Sol is their Spanish immersion program. This means that children are immersed in the Spanish language and culture from an early age. They learn Spanish through games, songs, stories, and other fun activities that engage their imaginations and encourage them to learn. The program helps to build a strong foundation for bilingualism and multiculturalism, which can benefit children throughout their lives.
The staff at Rayito de Sol are highly qualified and dedicated professionals who are passionate about working with children. They create a warm and welcoming environment where children feel safe and secure, and where they can build strong relationships with their teachers and peers. The teachers work closely with each child to identify their unique strengths and interests, and to create individualized learning plans that help them reach their full potential.
Rayito de Sol also offers a wide range of activities that promote physical, social, and emotional development. Children have the opportunity to explore nature, engage in creative arts and crafts, and participate in music and movement classes. They also learn important social skills, such as sharing, taking turns, and resolving conflicts, which are essential for success in later life.
