Kristina Gonzalez, Director

Kristina is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in San Francisco, CA. Since moving to San Francisco from Florida in 2014, Kristina has fallen in love with the city and everything it has to offer.

She graduated from the University of Florida in 2011 with her Master of Arts in Education (MAE) and Education Specialist (EdS) degrees. Throughout her graduate education, Kristina trained extensively in the use of play therapy with children and families. Since then, she has worked as a in-home preschool educator with Migrant Education and a therapist at The Child Advocacy Center working with children that have been abused or neglected. Most recently, Kristina was able to combine her two passions–play therapy and early childhood education–as a Classroom Therapist at a local therapeutic preschool working with children with special emotional/behavioral needs. Kristina is passionate about working with children and families to help children get their best start in life. She is thrilled to work with your family in her latest capacity as the owner and director of Little Robles Bilingual Preschool.

Thank you to Kristina and all of the wonderful teachers for creating an environment where our son could blossom verbally, socially, emotionally, and then some :)

I feel so peaceful and happy about sending my baby to Little Robles. He is being raised by incredible women who are great role models. He is thriving there and I can’t even imagine ever trusting another person as much as I trust Kristina.

Testimonials

We absolutely loved Little Robles for our 1-year old. Kristina is incredibly communicative and kind with the kids, and all of the other teachers are so involved and loving. Our daughter would run into the building every morning giving her teachers hugs and ready to play with her friends, and she learned so much from being around them. We moved too far away, otherwise we would have stayed forever. I cannot recommend this program highly enough for kids of any age!! - Alexandra Larrave

Philosophy

Learning. Caring. Growing.

Our mission is to provide quality childcare and preschool bilingual education that promotes the healthy growth of the whole child: mind, body, and spirit. At Little Robles, we believe that play is vital to a child’s development. It is how they learn to socialize, communicate, and take calculated risks. It is also how children heal from adversity and process difficult situations or feelings they are experiencing. At Little Robles, children will be able to use play to learn, explore their environments, and develop into well-rounded community members.

Parent involvement is a core value at Little Robles. Parents are invited to spend time with us, see what their children are learning, and to share with us what is important to their families. Little Robles knows that supporting children in our community means also supporting parents during what may be the most complex and trying time in their child’s development. This is why Little Robles also offers parenting workshops, support groups, and mental health support from a therapist.

Location

Little Robles is located in a beautiful 1920’s single family home in the quiet neighborhood of Mount Davidson Manor. We are convenient to public transportation, including the K/T Muni line. The school occupies the bottom floor of the home with plenty of sunlight and bright cheery walls. There are plenty of activity areas for children to explore and learn, including a:

  • Sensory exploration center
  • Dramatic play area to unleash children’s imagination
  • Quiet, cozy reading area
  • Fun area to encourage children’s natural ability to build and explore shapes and textures.

The school has been thoughtfully laid out and decorated to provide a safe, peaceful setting with plenty of toys, books, crayons, blocks, and other inspiring invitations to explore. Each child is provided with his or her own comfortable cot for nap time. Little Robles students enjoy supervised outdoor play time in our spacious backyard or Aptos Park, which is just around the corner from the school.

San Francisco offers rich cultural and natural environments for our children to explore. We believe in the importance of nurturing responsible, compassionate citizens and that effort should start at a young age. Cultural diversity, kindness towards others, and social justice are woven into everything we do at Little Robles.

About our program

A Wonderschool Classroom

We are a Wonderschool program, which means all our teachers have been approved by the Wonderschool team. We’ve received training through both the classroom and hands-on experience on how best to provide social emotional education to children from ages 12 months to 5 years. Our school gives parents access to the Wonderschool app to make payments, communicate with our teaching staff, and to just make things easy for our parents.

Parent Involvement

We love parent involvement! Although not required, parents are welcomed to volunteer for projects and field trips or lead us in celebrations that are special to their family. We ask that you let the staff know when you would like to volunteer to help in the classroom. Otherwise, parents can drop in at any time to see their children.

We share daily activity reports with parents to let them know what has happened during school each day. We also send a weekly digest of pictures for each child and a monthly newsletter with all of the information about what we’ve been learning at school. Parents are encouraged to let the staff know of family situations and activities that may impact their child’s behavior at school.

Little Robles also offers special workshops throughout the school year that focus on strengthening the parent/child relationship and managing behaviors.

Social Emotional Learning

At Little Robles we know that kindergarten readiness begins with a solid social emotional foundation. Little Robles’ director is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (www.sflmft.com) that has put social emotional learning at the forefront of everything we do at Little Robles. Children learn how to express all of their big feelings, cooperate with one another during difficult interactions, and use different techniques to self-regulate. We do this through providing words for the emotions we see, modeling appropriate ways to express feelings and needs, and using mindfulness techniques throughout the day.
