Our Teachers

Silvia brings over 24 years of experience caring for children. She has worked in early childhood education and as a teacher’s assistant, supporting young learners in both structured and play-based settings. Her commitment to childcare began at an early age when she helped raise her younger siblings, an experience that shaped her deeply nurturing, patient, and attentive approach to supporting children’s growth and development.

She is currently studying Child Development at the San Francisco City College and will earn her Associate Teacher Certificate in May 2026. Silvia holds First Aid certification and is dedicated to creating a safe, caring environment for every child.

As a mother of a two-year-old, she understands firsthand the importance of patience, creativity, and emotional support in early childhood. Silvia speaks both Spanish and English.

Her approach centers on free play and hands-on creativity. She integrates art naturally into the day, encouraging children to shape, build, and explore with materials like clay and other open-ended resources. Silvia believes children learn best in environments that are nurturing, flexible, and guided by their curiosity rather than rigid structure.

Philosophy

Our program is grounded in free play, artistic expression, and Waldorf-inspired principles. We believe young children learn best through hands-on exploration, imagination, and meaningful experiences rather than rigid academic instruction.

Free play Children need time and space to explore, create, negotiate, and problem-solve on their own. Through open-ended play, they build social skills, confidence, and independence.

Art as a foundation Art is woven into daily life. Through painting, modeling with clay, drawing, storytelling, and music, children develop creativity, fine motor skills, and self-expression. We view art not as an extra activity, but as a core way children understand the world.

Waldorf-inspired approach Guided by Waldorf principles, we honor the rhythm of the day, the importance of imagination, and the value of natural materials. We nurture the whole child - head, heart, and hands - creating a warm, home-like environment where childhood is respected and protected.

Together, these elements create a space where children are free to be curious, creative, and fully themselves.
