Testimonials
“My daughter was lucky enough to have Amy as a teacher at her Montessori school for several years, from ages 3 to 5. Amy is a compassionate and attentive teacher, with an obvious love for children. She is endlessly patient and dedicated to nurturing children into inquisitive, mindful, and well-adjusted human beings. She has a holistic approach to learning and a passion for teaching little-ones. I would recommend Amy to any parent looking for a warm, encouraging, and stimulating learning (and playing!) environment for their children.“— Emily S.
Philosophy
Wild Rose Montessori is based on the Montessori method of education developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. Our curriculum follows Montessori principles by having mixed ages and a prepared environment in which children are free to choose their own work. Children are given three hours of uninterrupted work time which allows them to make self discoveries and work with a material for as long as they like. In the Montessori prepared environment children learn life skills not merly academics. Children learn to care for our environment, self care and care of others.
We support the whole child. Emotionally, children learn to identify the emotions they are feeling and work through them. Physically, in a Montessori classroom children have freedom movement and are never required to stay seated. Cognitively, the Montessori materials teach children order, concentration, coordination and independence. Socially, the children are in a mixed age classroom which fosters communication. The older children help the younger children helping them develop leadership skills. The younger children learn to communicate their needs as well as grace and courtesy from the older children and the teacher.
Our program is a home-based preschool with low ratios of teachers to children so that children can learn and thrive within a cozy, home-like environment.
