Our Teachers
My name is Michaela Jaks and I am the owner of Jaks Family Child Care. I have worked with young children for 5+ years. I obtained my Associate Teachers certification in 2019, and since then have gone on to obtain my Meditation Teachers certification, and degrees in both Social Behavioral Science and Arts and Humanities. I am also certified by the Red Cross for pediatric and adult first aid and CPR, and I have been certified for preventative health and nutrition. My husband and I have been married for 6 years and have grown our family with two children and our rescue animals. I look forward to welcoming you to the family!
Philosophy
I believe a child’s early experiences enrich and stimulate future growth. Children deserve to be treated and respected as individuals in an environment that welcomes reason, exploration, question, and imagination. We respect each child’s need for love, security, acceptance, warmth, gentle guidance, understanding, and stimulation. My approach to childcare is child centered and child directed. Children are offered choices whenever possible. While in my care your child will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities which promote all aspects of development. Our family child care provides the comfort and experience of belonging to an extended family while fostering school readiness.
About our program
Our highly educated staff operate a play based preschool with emphasis on natural, open ended toys and materials. Our program offers a healthy environment that is free of toxic products, dyes, highly processed foods, and is mostly organic. We offer a lightly structured routine including daily yoga and meditation practices, educational and fun videos, outdoor play, activities, games, and lots of loving, gentle support. We celebrate most recognized holidays, birthdays, and changing of the seasons.
