Our Teachers

Hello! My name is Maricela Valencia, the founder of gugu Child Care. My love for working with children started over 10 years ago, when I began working as a nanny. This desire to work with children motivated me to earn my Child Development Associate teacher permit, in 2012, and since then I have worked in Early Education. It has been my vision to design my own space, where children can blossom and grow, and today I’m happy to welcome you to gugu Child Care!

Philosophy

At gugu Child Care, our goal is to provide a safe, happy place for children to learn and grow physically, emotionally, intellectually and to develop social skills at their own pace. We believe children learn through play and benefit from a structured, yet flexible schedule. The activities offered will stimulate sensory motor development, language development and social interaction. Location

gugu Child Care is located in a welcoming, cozy, and safe area of Richmond Ca. We are a less than 8 minutes drive away from El Cerrito del Norte Bart station, and 5 minutes drive to I-80 W. Our backyard is a great space for children to play and run every day, but we also take walks around our neighborhood and spend time in Burg Park which is one block away.

2. Tour our program

Come see what makes gugu Child Care unique. If we are currently hosting tours, you can request or schedule a tour at the top of this page. If we are not currently hosting tours, you’ll see a “Request Info” button at the top of this page; if you submit your information using this button, we will notify you when we start host tours again in the future.

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application at www.wonderschool.com/gugu-child-care-6163/apply – note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
