Our Teachers

Jennifer is a former fashion designer and nanny. She loves to provide children opportunities to learn and grow through art. She focuses on the exploration of texture, color, and the usability aspect of art. She’s also a fantastic cook!

Damond taught middle school for a half dozen years in Oakland. He is also a musician who has played extensively in local venues. He is enthusiastic about sharing his love for music with children.

Together we are a husband and wife team that have been raising Can-Do Kids since 2004!

Philosophy

Providing kids with a stimulating, encouraging, and fun atmosphere is our goal. We want to be silly and creative. We know how to maintain limits and be consistent. We eat healthy AND delicious food so that our tongues can be tickled and our bodies can protect themselves. Our home has become a place for families to meet and friendships to blossom. Our curriculum is rooted in the standards, but flexible enough to account for a change in the weather, an interesting tangent, or the whims of a child.

Location

We are located in the often sunny and warm Merose Highland Neighborhood (AKA King Estates). We are about 1 min. from 580 at Keller Ave. We walk our neighborhood, to Burckhalter Park or King Estates Open Space multiples times each week.

About our program

At Pumpkin Seed Childcare in Oakland, we foster children’s growth through hands-on learning experiences and outdoor adventures. Our program focuses on preparing students for academic success, promoting self-reliance, and nurturing their social skills. With age-diverse groups, we ensure a well-rounded development for every child.
