Teresa Saviskas - Director & Head Teacher
Hello! I am Teresa, the founder and head teacher of Montessori Wonderschool of Oakland. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom and grow.
I have 25 years of experience working with young children. I completed a certification in Montessori through AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) and love to incorporate aspects of Montessori into my pedagogy and curriculum.
I am a parent myself and know how important it is to find someone you trust for the care and education of your child. My children are growing up and I am so excited for the opportunity to provide a safe and nurturing space for other children in my community.

Philosophy
At Montessori Wonderschool of Oakland , we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an environment that engages children with developmentally-appropriate activities and materials. In our program, children will feel genuinely cared for and cherished.
I am a certified Montessori teacher. I believe that children are naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtful-prepared environment.
Location
Montessori Wonderschool of Oakland is located in a warm, beautiful townhouse in the Cleveland Heights neighborhood.
We’ve expertly designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), sensory area (for spatial awareness and learning through the five senses), and music and movement area (for physical activity and cultural learning).
Children will have some outdoor time everyday in my private yard or outdoor space. Connecting with nature lets children gain deeper knowledge of themselves and the world.
At Montessori Wonderschool of Oakland, I want to provide a loving home away from home.
