Our Teachers

Hello there! I am Martha Montano, and I am the founding teacher at Montano Family Child Care. I am passionate about helping children grow and develop, and I believe it’s my calling to take care of kids. As a young girl, I would babysit or work with kids in my community, and ever since then I’ve been passionate about helping others. From 1994-1998, I served as a foster mom, but once my own grandson was born and I began taking care of him, I realized I had the chance to help my community by opening my own childcare. Now, 9 years later, my program is licensed by the state of California and I have taken a number of child development courses, taking over 40 units.

My favorite time of day with your child is the chance I get to sit down with them and engage 1:1 in English and Spanish. I love asking new questions and picking each little one’s brains to help them think about the world around them. My husband also helps me run our business, and we’re proud of the space we have created!

Philosophy

At Montano Family Child Care & Wonderschool, we believe in serving children of all ages in a positive environment that nurtures learning and exploration. We believe that using an emergent curriculum with children gives them the opportunity to engage in activities that are responsive to their age and ability. We actively support development by focusing on your child’s growth and helping them develop a sense of their fine motor, sensorimotor, and communication skills. Families are an important part of what we do, and we communicate with you about your child consistently!

Our goal is to build better citizens and professionals - the first five years are the beginning of the rest of your life! We treat children with love, dignity, and respect and believe they in turn will make the world a better place.

Location

Our single family home is located in a cozy, safe neighborhood where children have access to our backyard everyday. We are just minutes from the 405!

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
