Our Teachers
Hello! I am Sandra Batres, the founder of Batres Family Wonderschool. I started my child care program in this home 27 years ago because I saw so much need among families in my community, and I wanted to help. I have 62 child development units and a Child Development Teachers Permit, and I am especially passionate about serving children with special needs. I am originally from El Salvador, and have two daughters and one grandson.

Philosophy
Batres Family Wonderschool’s philosophy is to provide a warm, nurturing and safe environment. We want children to feel as comfortable as if they were in their own homes. In this type of environment, children will be able to grow, learn and be ready for the next educational setting. To achieve this, each child will be given individual attention along with the opportunity to work cooperatively in a group. The goal is for each child to feel safe, happy and welcome.
Location
Batres Family Wonderschool is located in a bright, beautiful single family home in the North Hollywood neighborhood.
We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. The activities available are both indoors and outdoors. Indoors there are various learning areas; these include circle time, reading, writing, arts, dramatic play, math, science and language. Children can also work with manipulatives to help them enhance their fine motor skills. In addition, children can also use the quiet areas to read and play by themselves or share with others. Outside, there is a range of toys and climbing fixtures for the children to develop their motor skills. In all these areas, children will have the opportunity to work individually as well as in groups.
About our program
I began this childcare because I have a love for children. Children are the future of our society, and they deserve to be in a loving and supportive environment. My goal is for children who attend my program to gain values and skills needed to be better individuals and to be successful members of society. I emphasize in supporting children to be independent, have confidence in themselves and to support one another. I truly love what I do and enjoy working every day. I wish that upon every individual. I am looking forward to parenting in your child’s development!
