Our Teachers

Hello! I am Jeanette Petersen, the founder of Blythe’s Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I genuinely care about children, and I have dedicated my life to serving children in need – as a child care provider in a family child care program, as a social worker, and as a parent myself. I am passionate about identifying each child’s unique abilities and catering to them. I have 8 years of experience working with young children.

My daughter, Blythe, will be my co-teacher. She has been caring for and teaching children – including her own two boys – for over ten years, and she has been entrusted with the safety of children of friends, family, neighbors and their friends. She has experience with children with minor developmental disabilities – her own son is on the autism spectrum. We are so honored to have created a nurturing environment for children in our home.

Philosophy

At Blythe’s Wonderschool, we hope to be the stepping stone in giving your little ones the best care, making their stay feel like a second home. We infuse love and creativity into everything we do, with a special focus on art. In our program, children will be supported as they engage with new ideas and learnings, and will feel genuinely cared for and cherished.

Location

Blythe’s Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, cozy single family home in the University Hills neighborhood near Cal State LA.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include our reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), art area (for expressing emotions and ideas), and sensory area (for spatial awareness and learning through the five senses).

Children will have some outdoor time everyday in my private outdoor space. Children need space to run, jump, move and let out their ya-yas!

At Blythe’s Wonderschool, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.
