Our Teachers

Hello! I am Jose Alcantar, the founder of Alcantar Family Child Care Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 20 years of experience working with young children.

Philosophy

Ourphilosophy is to offer a program that meets the basic needs of growth and development of children, which are out of their homes for much of the day. We have a responsibility to support the development of the children in all areas of development and recognize that children learning through active practice and the relationship with their environment, peers, and adults.

We try to include in the various activities lessons in manners, respect for the other children, the elderly, personal hygiene activities, learning to share and help their fellow peers and also learninig to be independent. To achieve this purpose, we pledge to work together with parents, agencies and anyone who is related to the development and welfare of all children.

We respect the interests, abilities and needs of each child as an individual or as part of a group. Similarly, our program respects and supports the ideals, cultures and values of every family.

Location

Alcantar Family Child Care Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, beautiful single family home in the El Monte neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), manipulatives and math area (for fine motor skills and beginning math concepts), and dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy).

Children will have some outdoor time everyday in my private yard or outdoor space. Children need space to run, jump, and move!

At Alcantar Family Child Care Wonderschool, I want to provide a loving home away from home.
