Our Teachers

Mimi grew up in the mountains and ever since she has been devoted to sharing her love of the mountains with others. She has worked at nature schools, as a rock climbing guide, and as a mom! She has a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Natural History and is a Wilderness First Responder. Starting a business is her newest adventure in bringing more people close to nature.

Philosophy

At our childcare facility, we believe that all children deserve unconditional love and respect. All feelings are allowed, and we set limits without shame or judgment. Behavior is taught through modeling, not threats or bribes. Our aim is to say yes as much as possible, allowing all types of play that do not hurt feelings, bodies, or property. Additionally, we emphasize nature as the ideal setting for children’s learning. We facilitate learning about the natural world and how we connect with it and each other.

Location

We will be meeting at Millpond Recreation Area, which has play structures, picnic tables, pergolas, and lots of opportunities for nature exploration.

About our program

We are outside every day! Our daily flow starts with tracing a letter of the week, an optional craft or activity, free play, tea and snack/circle time, then we take our lunches on a hike. We follow the seasons and also our students interests. We encourage family participation and community building.
