After graduating from HuBei Normal University with a B.A. in Child Development and Philosophy, Ms. Helen embarked on her journey in early childhood education as a kindergarten teacher in Wuhan, China, twenty-seven years ago. In 1992, early childhood education in China was still in its infancy, viewed as a novel concept imported from Western countries. Most Chinese children were traditionally cared for by their grandparents, and the notion of sending them to kindergarten was unfamiliar to many. Consequently, kindergartens struggled with low enrollment and insufficient government funding, leading many to close their doors.
Despite the allure of a better-paying career in accounting, Ms. Helen’s unwavering passion for early childhood education and her profound love for children guided her decision to remain in the field. Her dedication saw her through years of challenges, and even as she rose to the position of kindergarten director, her enthusiasm for teaching never waned. She continued to engage directly with the children and participate in classroom activities alongside her fellow teachers, fostering an environment of learning and growth.
In 2012, Ms. Helen immigrated to the United States and co-founded a family daycare in Los Angeles, operating it for three years. During this period, she immersed herself in the nuances of early childhood education in the U.S. and gained invaluable experience in running a daycare. In 2015, driven by her passion and newfound insights, she relocated to the Bay Area and established Albany Sunflower Day Care.
Ms. Helen deeply understands the apprehension parents feel when entrusting their children to a new environment. She is committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and welcoming home for all children at her daycare. Her secret to success is simple yet profound: love. With this guiding principle, she ensures that every child in her care grows up healthy, happy, and brimming with curiosity and confidence.
