Our Teachers

Hello! I am Sheree Thomas, the founder of Thomas Family Childcare Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I have loved working with children since I was young. I have 10 years of experience working with young children. Before running my own childcare, I worked for school districts and counties helping initiatives regarding early childhood education. I have a minor in Early Childhood Education and love that I get to use my education to help each child grow to the best of their potential!

Philosophy

At Thomas Family Childcare Wonderschool, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an environment that engages children with developmentally-appropriate activities and materials. In our program, children will feel supported as they engage with new ideas and learnings. I use a combination of different curriculum in order to keep things fun and exciting for the children. Every month we have themes and woven into the themes we cover colors, letters, numbers, shapes, practice writing, sign language and Spanish. We also read books, sing songs and do art projects that relate to the themes. All of the activities will be modified for babies and toddlers under 3 years old. I have chosen to purchase and use curriculum from FunShine Express for the 2019-2020 year; however, curriculum can change at my discretion. This curriculum is aligned with CA state standards for early education.

Location

Thomas Family Childcare Wonderschool is located in a charming, beautiful old victorian right in the heart of Alameda.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), and art area (for expressing emotions and ideas).

Children will have some outdoor time everyday in my private yard.

If we are not currently hosting tours, you’ll see a “Request Info” button at the top of this page; if you submit your information using this button, we will notify you when we start host tours again in the future.

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
