Our Teachers

Laura Rogers, Director of Education and Child Development

Laura graduated from Jacksonville State University in 2017 with her bachelor’s degree in both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. Both of these degrees combined has given her the background knowledge she needs to focus on providing effective learning materials and environments at her childcare center for children from birth through the age of 12. Teaching children and encouraging their independence and developing their own self-interests has always been her passion. She has worked numerous jobs in the field of childcare throughout her life since the age of 18 and has also worked for 6 years as an elementary school teacher.

After having her first child in 2020 and experiencing the effects of being stuck at home during the Covid pandemic, she began to research educational philosophies to educate her own child in a more natural and child-led environment that would foster his independence and early development. She researched several different developmental approaches for educating children, and some of the ways that stuck out to her that sparked her interest that would later help mold this childcare program were Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, Montessori, Nature-based, and Forest School. All of these philosophies played a part in inspiring her to create her own child care center one day. This dream of hers grew over the years as she continued teaching in the public school systems in both Florida and Alabama. After having her second child, she again wanted to find a way to stay home to educate her own two children using some of the research she had done over the years on other educational philosophies. After 2 more years of teaching, in 2024, she was finally able to take the initiative towards starting her own business in early childhood education, and through the generous support of many community members, she was able to finally open her childcare center!

Philosophy

At our childcare center, we strive to create a safe and caring community of young explorers inspired by a blend of several educational philosophies including Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, Montessori, Play-based, Nature based, and Forest School philosophies. Our program is a place where children can learn through doing, invent through making, and solve problems by working together.

We believe that when children are truly engaged with their environment, they are activating their creativity and learning at their best. Our team of experienced and innovative teachers do this by creating a space driven by the interests and ideas of the children who inhabit it.
