Nuestros profesores

Eli and Abby bring backgrounds in hospitality, design, and handicrafts to KinderHolden, work that’s shaped how they run the homestead as much as how they raise their own family here. Years spent hosting, building, and making things by hand taught them that good care is in the details: a warm meal, a well-kept space, a task done right. That same attention now shapes every day at KinderHolden, from the meals cooked together to the tools and materials the children get to use themselves.

Filosofía

Our program is all about learning through real, purposeful play on the land. We believe children grow best when they’re doing, not just watching, whether that’s tending the garden, caring for the chickens, or helping prepare a meal. The homestead itself is our classroom: low garden beds, gentle animals, trails, and open sky. We spend the majority of our time outdoors, in all kinds of weather, and we keep screens out of the day entirely. Meals are cooked from local ingredients, with the children taking part.

Ubicación

Our location is a 15-acre homestead in Plainfield, just up the road from the Plainfield Co-op, with easy access to Marshfield and the Plainfield town. We’re about fifteen minutes from downtown Barre and fifteen minutes from downtown Montpelier, so families across central Vermont can reach us easily. Surrounded by fields, trees, and quiet roads, it’s a genuinely rural setting, gardens, animals, trails, and open space for kids to explore every day.

Acerca de nuestro programa

KinderHolden is a small family child care home on a 15-acre homestead in Plainfield, Vermont. Run by us, Eli and Abby, it’s truly a family affair. Children ages 18 months to 4 years spend their days outside as much as possible, tending the garden, visiting the animals, walking the trails. We believe kids learn best through real, hands-on play, so the land itself becomes the classroom. Meals are cooked together with the children, using local ingredients. We keep our group small, just six children, so every child gets real attention and a real place in the day’s rhythm.
