Monica Jackson is the owner and operator of Jackson Child Care. (JCC). A leader in the childcare field since 1991, as a life long learner, Ms. Jackson’s purpose and passion is “learning, growing, playing, and having fun together!” Ms. Jackson is honored to lead and work alongside a committed team of educators.

Ms. Jackson runs a wonderful daycare which we sent our eldest son to for approximately two years. After bouncing around multiple subpar daycares, we found Jackson Day Care and felt comfortable keeping our son there until he was ready for kindergarten. Under Ms. Jackson’s care, our son’s emotional intelligence, as well as his auditory, visual, pencil-and-paper, and gross motor skills, progressed rapidly, enabling him to be admitted to a competitive local private school. Before the pandemic, the daycare would take regular field trips to the library, museums, farmer’s markets, and other places, making learning more meaningful for the kids. The daycare itself is well-maintained and periodically undergoes deep cleaning, making it a comfortable environment for any child. - Rob W

Our daughters attended Ms. Jackson Child Care for almost four years. It is an outstanding daycare. Their development has advanced further and faster through the many educational activities and special attention they received. Every day, we receive progress and activity reports via email and text messages, along with memorable pictures of the day. For more than 35 years, we have partnered with families to provide high-quality early childhood education that fosters a love of learning while preparing children for success in kindergarten and beyond. Our goal is not only to build school readiness skills but also to help children develop the social, emotional, and life skills they need to thrive. Our preschool program focuses on: —Early literacy development, including letter knowledge, vocabulary, phonological awareness, print motivation, and storytelling —School readiness skills tailored to each child’s individual developmental needs —Guided play experiences that promote creativity, problem-solving, independence, and critical thinking —Language development that supports communication, listening, reading, and emerging writing skills —Social and emotional learning that helps children build friendships, self-confidence, empathy, and self-regulation —Hands-on learning through art, science, nature exploration, music, movement, and meaningful real-world experiences —Unstructured play opportunities that encourage imagination, curiosity, and joyful discovery —Field trips and community experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom

Our daily activities align with the Virginia Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS) and incorporate research-based practices that support the development of the whole child. Children engage in meaningful learning experiences designed to promote growth across all developmental domains, including literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, physical development, approaches to learning, and social-emotional development. Through hands-on exploration, guided play, and intentional teaching, we help children build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for success in kindergarten and beyond. Through intentional teaching, play-based learning, and caring relationships, we help children develop the confidence, skills, and love of learning that support successful transitions into kindergarten and lifelong success.

What began as a way for Monica Jackson to stay home while raising her daughters grew into a lifelong passion and a trusted family child care program that has served generations of children and families.

For more than 35 years, we have been committed to helping young children develop the confidence, skills, and love of learning needed for success in kindergarten and beyond. Through ongoing professional development, research-based practices, and meaningful community partnerships, we continually enhance our program to provide children with rich opportunities to learn, explore, create, and grow.

At Jackson Child Care, we believe every child is unique. Our small group setting allows us to build strong relationships with children and families while providing individualized support that meets each child’s developmental needs. Through play-based learning, social-emotional development, literacy-rich experiences, hands-on exploration, and school readiness activities, children gain valuable skills that support success in school and life.

Our program is designed primarily for preschool-aged children, ages 3–5, who are preparing for kindergarten and developing the social, emotional, and academic skills needed for future success.

Step 3: Schedule a Visit We encourage prospective families to visit our program to meet Ms. Jackson, explore the learning environment, and learn more about our approach to early childhood education. This is an opportunity to ask questions and discuss your child’s interests, strengths, and developmental needs.

Step 4: Determine Program Fit Together, we will review your family’s goals and determine whether Jackson Child Care is the best fit for your child. Our small-group setting allows us to provide individualized attention and meaningful learning experiences tailored to each child.

Step 5: Complete Enrollment Requirements Families who choose to enroll will receive the necessary enrollment forms, health records requirements, emergency contact forms, and program policies for review and completion.
