Hello! I am Dominique Cordero, the founder of Sweet Mommy Day Care. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community after I had my own daughter. I couldn’t find a place for her, and began to take care of her here; soon, I enrolled a niece, then a neighbor. Now, 19 years later I have raised three girls (one of whom helps as an assistant here!), supported dozens of children and families, and earned my CDA from the state of New York.

Filozofi
At Sweet Mommy Day Care, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an environment that helps each child to feel confident and capable. In our program, children will feel supported as they engage with new ideas and learnings.
Three words I’d use to describe my program:
- Comfortable: Comfort is important, especially for children who are leaving their home for the first time for a child care program. We work with families to ensure that you and your child have everything they need to love our program.
- Playful: We believe that kids learn through play so our environment is structured with lots of learning centers so that children can explore and learn every day.
- Clean: Our environment is clean!
Kote
Sweet Mommy Day Care is located in a welcoming, warm apartment in the Washington Heights neighborhood.
We are located close to both the 181st St and 191st St subway lines along the 1, as well as convenient for those who work at Isabella Home, Yeshiva University, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
Children will have some outdoor time every day at a local park or playground. Connecting with nature is vital to a child’s happiness and growth.
At Sweet Mommy Day Care, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.

Our space is filled with joy and love from the moment your child arrives. We are so happy that your child is with us, and treat them like part of the family. My favorite thing to do with the children is our music and movement time, when we sing songs, build vocabulary, and move our bodies!
We build the foundations for literacy. I use tools from the Babies Can Read program to support language development and help kids connect print with meaning! It supports their ability to follow instructions and get ready for preschool or kindergarten!
We focus on the whole child. At Sweet Mommy, we think about who your child will be! I believe children should be polite, independent and capable! As a result, I encourage them to explore and grow as themselves when in my care.
This program is bilingual in English and Spanish. Your child will have access to both languages, as I am fluent in both. No matter what they speak at home, they should be able to navigate both after being in my care!
