Our Teachers

Hello! My name is Salome Gonzalez and I am the founding director of the Growing Happy Group Family Daycare network. I started my own childcare years ago when I had my son and I realized that there were not a lot of high-quality options in the area. Now, he is a senior in high school and our programs continue to provide quality for families in Manhattan and The Bronx.

I have my CDA and am a licensed afterschool provider from the state of New York.

Philosophy

In all of our Growing Happy Group Family Daycare programs with Wonderschool, we believe that children learn and develop best when they are encouraged through a loving environment. We use play to guide children through activities that they choose for themselves and that we select based on their interests.

We know that each child is unique, so we make sure to create activities and spaces that match their level and ability. We also believe that these young years are the best time for children to gain a sense of independence and self-control, so we work with them across many modalities to get there. If you believe in kids, they will accomplish whatever is in front of them!

Location

Growing Happy I is located in a secure apartment building a short distance from the 191 St subway station 1 line stop in Washington Heights. Children have the ability to take outside time in the park nearby or on the daily walks that we take together.

About our program

We know that you want your child in a safe, home environment. Our space is thoroughly cleaned each day and organized around all licensing guidelines. You can have peace of mind knowing your child is here.

This program supports bilingual development. Your child will interact with adults and peers in both Spanish and English. At a young age, children get a ton of access to communication in either language.

We have a unique schedule based on the day that provides children with different activities.

Monday: Writing/Drawing & Dramatic Playa

Tuesday: ABC & Language Activities & Blocks

Wednesday: Number Activities & Puppets/Dramatic Play

Thursday: Color Activities & Tables Activities/Puzzles

Friday: Shapes Activities & Blocks
