Our Teachers

My name is Apolonia de la Cruz, known to the children as Aunt Apolonia.  As a child guide and educator, I believe my role is fundamental to the process of child development.

Educators like my colleagues and me are significant role models for the children who come to Mi Tia House, and the ones who will direct their preschool learning. Together with parents and other adults in the children’s lives, we contribute greatly to their physical, emotional, social and intellectual development.   I use a personalized approach with each child in my program, which allows me to rapidly detect and work side-by-side with parents, as needed, to respond to any issue that may arise.  I am so happy that you put your trust in me.

Mi nombre es Apolonia de la Cruz, conocida por los niños como tía Apolonia. Como guía y educador infantil, creo que mi rol es fundamental para el proceso de desarrollo infantil.

Los educadores como mis colegas y yo somos modelos importantes para los niños que vienen a Mi Tia House y los que dirigen su aprendizaje preescolar. Junto con los padres y otros adultos en la vida de los niños, contribuimos en gran medida a su desarrollo físico, emocional, social e intelectual.  Utilizo un enfoque personalizado con cada niño de mi programa, lo que me permite detectar rápidamente y trabajar codo a codo con los padres, según sea necesario, para responder a cualquier problema que pueda surgir. Estoy tan feliz de que hayas confiado en mí.

Philosophy

Welcome to Mi Tia House! We are a warm and welcoming daycare designed to meet your child’s social and developmental needs.  Through circle time, reading, singing, dancing, art and imaginative play, we expand our children’s world on a daily basis.  We treat our kids like family and share their parents’ pride in seeing their growth.

Tia Apolonia opened Mi Tia House over 6 years ago, fulfilling a lifelong dream.   Both Tia Apolonia and Tia Lillian are nationally certified in Bilingual Family Child Care.   

We focus on teaching through play, which helps children to develop cognitively and learn through their interactions with others.

Location

Mi Tia House Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, charming townhouse in the Williamsburg neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include sensory area (for spatial awareness and learning through the five senses), reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), and block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving). Children also love exploring our dramatic play area including our play-kitchen and costumes, and joining the group for circle time on our group-rug!

At Mi Tia House Wonderschool, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play. We believe that daily outdoor time is vital so that children can get fresh air and connect with nature. We take children to a local park every day (weather permitting) so that they can recharge and connect with their surroundings!

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application at www.wonderschool.com/mi-tia-house-wonderschool-3276/apply** **– Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
