Dinosaurs and Daisies Playschool is owned and operated by Kathie Taylor who has been in the early childhood field since 1993. She started her career by getting an AS in Child Development at TMCC. During her years of schooling she worked at the E.L. Cord Child Care Center at TMCC as a student worker teaching children from infants to preschool. After receiving her child development degree, she continued on to UNR to receive a BS in Human Development and Family Studies concentrating on Early Childhood Education. While working on this degree, she had her first daughter in 1998 which prompted her to start doing Family Childcare for 25 years. During that time, Kathie received a CDA (Child Development Associate), sat on various early childhood boards and took hundreds of training hours ranging from health and safety to brain development. Kathie is a Level 5.2 on the Nevada Early Care and Education Professional Career Ladder which translates to having a Bachelor’s degree and at least 4,000 hours of direct experience.
Filosofía
The main objective of Dinosaurs and Daisies is to provide a nature rich learning environment for children that facilitates creativity, problem solving, independence and social interaction. Teachers are facilitators that show the children where to look, but not what to see. Your child will learn how to have confidence and self-regulation all while learning Nevada Pre-K standards. Children will be consistently assessed in fun ways to assure they are Kindergarten ready socially, emotionally and academically. At Dinosaurs and Daisies we believe that there is not one teaching theory that works with all types of learning. We have a flexible, fun, play based curriculum TAYLORED around each child’s individual learning style.
Ubicación
Dinosaurs & Daisies is in Damonte Ranch and within walking distance of the Damonte Ranch Park and the Wetlands. We take many walking field trips for hands on learning. Elementary schools in close proximity include: J. Wood Raw, Poulakidas and Brown. I am accepting Before School kids ages 6-10 years who can get on the bus closest to Cascade Falls Drive in Damonte Ranch.
Acerca de nuestro programa
Dinosaurs & Daisies Playschool is a half day preschool with an OUTDOOR CLASSROOM. The littles are given the opportunity to learn all developmental skills outside in a nature rich environment. We spend at least one hour per day outside (weather permitting). At Dinosaurs & Daisies Playschool, each child is treated with respect and love and is offered a positive, child led environment where teachers are facilitators. Through play and hands-on activities, the children will learn skills to help build self-ESTEEM and prepare them for future life skills. At Dinosaurs & Daisies, self-ESTEEM is learned through: Exploration of the environment, Solving problems, Taking healthy risks, Encouraging others, Emotional regulation and Making good choices
