Our Teachers
Hello, my name is Ms. Henrietta Romero, and I am the director of Ponderosa Montessori School. With 17 years of experience in childcare, I have found immense joy in teaching and supporting families throughout their children’s early years. My journey into childcare began after a career in administration, where I discovered a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young learners. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to creating enriching environments where children can thrive intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Building strong connections with families and witnessing the growth and development of each child has been incredibly rewarding, solidifying my passion for this field.
Philosophy
Infant/Toddler Curriculum - 6 weeks to 23 months Transition Curriculum - 2 years to 4 years Early Childhood Curriculum - 3 to 6 years and Potty Trained and Readiness Assessed “And so we discovered that education is not something which the teacher does, but that it is a natural process which develops spontaneously in the human being. It is not acquired by listening to words, but in virtue of experiences in which the child acts on his environment. The teacher’s task is not to talk, but to prepare and arrange a series of motives for cultural activity in a special environment made for the child.” Elementary Curriculum - Kindergarten - 6th Grade The Montessori Elementary Program offers individualized instruction, which means that the child may work and be helped on an individual basis. Individualized learning establishes more intimate contact among the child, the teacher and the work. The teacher can become involved with the child in other than a “talk-and-chalk” stance before an entire class. Montessori individualized instruction deals in the concrete. The program permits a variety of approaches, using at every turn dynamic and colorful manipulatives that materialize abstract principles. These beautiful concrete materials are used throughout the entire curriculum, including math, reading, grammar, writing, spelling, geography, history, and natural and general science.

About our program
The Montessori teacher maintains a classroom environment in which each child is able to develop fully, while all learn to respect each other and the materials in the environment. Montessori classes are divided into age groupings. The children spend three years at each level, progressing at their own rates. The older children at each level naturally help the younger ones. The younger ones benefit from seeing all the possibilities for learning. Each level builds upon the others. The concrete materials at each level allow the children to first learn through their senses and then move to abstraction in the later elementary years. Children in Montessori classes learn according to their own developmental time line. They are expected to make responsible choices for their learning and to use their freedom well. Children appreciate the respect they are given and become mature individuals who love to learn.
