As far back as I can remember I’ve always had a love for children. Even as a young child, my dream has always been to marry and have lots of children. Upon becoming an adult and marrying my best friend, I continued to dream of becoming a mother. Finally, after eight long years of infertility, my husband and I were blessed to adopt both our son and daughter, each at four weeks old, one year apart. As years passed our children became adults. My husband and I were blessed with two beautiful grandchildren, from our daughter. It was our grandchildren who inspired me to go back to school and earn my degree in Early Childhood Education.

The task of finding a safe and nurturing childcare facility for our grandchildren was quite the challenge, no happy medium whatsoever. We were looking for a place where our children would be loved, cared for, and nurtured, so that we could be at peace while we were away working. Being hopeful, that our children were completely taken care of, simply did not exist. I recall arriving at the childcare center one morning to drop off my grandchildren, and one of the teachers who appeared quite frustrated, approached me and stated, “I would rather work with dead people than work with children”!

That day I decided to go back to school and obtain my degree. I vowed that I would earn my degree and strive to make a difference in the lives of children and their families at my Childcare Facility. I have worked with children all my adult life, serving in many different capacities at my church, and also served as office manager for several years in the Jackson Public School District. I have a true heart and love for children and a deep determination to make a difference in their lives one child at a time.

Janice is amazing working with children, she treats them just like her own! The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming for students and the parents. We also love how organized and structured she is as well!

JJ’s Afterschool & Nursery physical address is 101 Oak Wood Drive Raymond Ms. 39154. Take Hwy 18 West traveling in the direction going toward Hinds Comm. College. Take a right turn onto Springridge Rd. travel approx. one mile, turn left onto Oak Ridge Road, and keep straight into 101 Oak Wood Drive.

At JJ’s Afterschool & Nursery, our dedicated team creates a warm and supportive atmosphere for each child. We prioritize hands-on learning experiences that promote social and emotional growth. Children of all ages benefit from our inclusive approach, fostering a sense of community and cooperation. Our intimate setting and one-on-one approach allow each child to be personally cared for and to be seen and heard. Our philosophy is with play, imagination, encouragement, and love children will grow and thrive!

Ages served, 4yrs-12yrs. Schedule an appointment to view the aftercare center with Director. Complete an application for your afterschool slot. Submit a copy of immunization records, birth certificate, health information, and child information form. Contact: 601-613-7158
